How to Conjugate French Verbs: PRESENT TENSE

1) For the present tense in French, remove the last 2 letters from the verb either “er”, “ir”, or
“re” and then add the correct ending.

“ER” Verb Endings

Je = e	Nous = ons
Tu = es	Vous = ez
Il / Elle/ On  = e	Ils / Elles = ent

.Ex. “Parler” (to speak) add one of the following endings:

Je parle = I speak	Nous parlons = we speak
Tu parles = you speak	Vous parlez = you speak
Il parle = he speaks, Elle parle = she speaks, On parle = one speaks	Ils/Elles parlent = they speak

“IR” Verb Endings

Je = is	Nous = issons
Tu = is	Vous = issez
Il / Elle/ On  = it	Ils / Elles = issent

Ex. “Finir” (to finish) add one of the following endings:

Je finis = I finish	Nous finissons= we finish
Tu finis = you finish	Vous finissez = you finish
Il finit = he finish, Elle finit = she finish, On finit = one finish	Ils/Elles finissent = they finish

“RE” Verb Endings

Je = s	Nous = ons
Tu = s	Vous = ez
Il / Elle/ On  = ___	Ils / Elles = ent

Ex. “Vendre” (to sell) add one of the following endings:

Je vends = I sell	Nous vendons= we sell
Tu vends = you sell	Vous vendez = you sell
Il vend = he sells, Elle vend = she sells, On vend = one sells	Ils/Elles vendent = they sell
